FA Client Portal 1.10 - Release notes

Released: September 2024

FA Client Portal 1.10 introduces a new mechanism to restrict access to buying, selling, withdrawing and depositing based on the mandate between a specific contact and portfolio. Also, we introduced the possibility to translate line charts on the Overview and Holdings details view.

Granular access control based on mandates between a contact and portfolio

Why?

We implemented this feature to let you restrict access to actions like buying, selling, trading, and withdrawing based the mandate between a specific contact and portfolio.

Who is this for?

This feature is valuable for organizations that manage multiple clients with different access levels to financial portfolios, such as wealth management firms or investment advisory companies.  It is particularly useful in scenarios where multiple individuals are associated with a single portfolio but have distinct roles or permissions based on legal mandates or agreements.

Details

Previously, access control was applied to a portfolio, affecting all linked contacts equally. For example, if both Person 1 and Person 2 were linked to Portfolio A, we couldn’t differentiate their permissions—both would either have full access or none at all. With this update, you can now set individual permissions for each contact, so Person 1 might only be able to buy and sell in Portfolio A, while Person 2 could be restricted to withdrawals only.

New “Client portal:” tags for representatives in the Portfolio window, Contacts and Asset Managers tabs. They function similarly to the tags available in the Basic info tab. FA Client Portal checks for these tags and enables or disables features based on them, similar to how portfolio groups are managed.

With this update, there are now three ways to restrict what a user can do with a portfolio:

  • On the portfolio level: By adding the Client Portal tag to a portfolio, you can include it in a dynamic portfolio group, enabling the access for all users associated with that portfolio.

  • On the contact level (all portfolios): You can assign your user’s linked contact A as the representative of contact B, allowing access to all of B’s portfolios in the FA Client Portal. By adding Client Portal tags in the Representative tab of contact B, you can activate access across all of B’s portfolios simultaneously. The feature access is granted only to your contact A.

  • On the contact and portfolio level: Add your user’s linked contact A as a Contact and Asset manager in the portfolio, giving them access to that portfolio in the FA Client Portal. Adding the Client Portal tags (Trade, Withdraw, and so on) in the Contacts tab or Asset Managers tab of the portfolio to activate the features only for that specific portfolio. The feature access is granted only to your contact A.

Other improvements

By updating the translation file (translation.json), you can now translate the line charts on the Overview and Holdings details view in the same manner as the other texts in the application.
